It's 1997 and one of the most promising groups on the Boston landscape is Tugboat Annie. The band is a recent transplant from Buffalo, New York with various singles and a 1995 debut album out on the Sonic Bubblegum label. Kimchee Records joins with Big Top Records to release their second full-length Wake Up and Disappear, an accomplished burst of mighty guitars, impassioned vocals and inescapable melodies. It features their radio sensation "Posterboy" ( this song alone should've made them big rock stars) and plenty of other contenders for the title of "moody tragi-romantic pop rock anthem of the year."
